Partners & Resources

Reclaiming Intimacy works with a number of organizations that share our goals of promoting support and education surrounding sexual health, sexual wellness and intimacy.

The resources, organizations, and medical professionals below have been vetted & verified by our company and offer intimacy, sex-positive, mental health, or sexual dysfunction support.

Let’s Talk More about Partnerships

Sexual Health and Reclaiming Intimacy

Reclaiming Intimacy is at the forefront of promoting sexual health & wellness for those facing cancer & illness. We are starting a movement to break the taboo, open communication, & help restore intimacy after the impact of cancer, illness, and medical treatments.

We are dedicated to helping advocates and the medical community so they can better serve people and their partners to strengthen their relationship. Talking about sexual dysfunction and providing care removes the unknown, reconnecting survivors to a vital part of the self.

Reclaiming sexuality assists in healing both mind and body through cancer & illness. Framing changes in sexuality as something to be embraced gives hope and connects people, pulling them from their isolation. Navigators and advocates are a critical part of survivor quality of life-talking about sexual rehabilitation restores, bringing a higher quality of life.

Providing information and answering questions should be done with a proactive, consistent approach because healthcare providers may or may not provide complete answers. Especially with sexual health and intimacy, more often than not, healthcare providers and physicians will not address questions or concerns. Many are unsure how to approach, unaware of the options available aside from prescription or surgical intervention, or they simply refer out for these issues.

Whatever treatment plan, stage of illness, or phase of life, Reclaiming Intimacy serves all people- families, advocates, physicians, medical professionals and partners through education and providing support.

The Northwest Institute on Intimacy

The Institute was created to meet a need generated by a significant deficit in the training of psychotherapists, physicians and clergy. Most providers have little to no training in sexual health. Yet sexuality is core to intimacy. In addition, sex therapists have little to no training in couple’s therapy. Yet relational dynamics effect the sexual relationship. This deficit has left the public seeing ill-informed providers.
The goal of the Northwest Institute on Intimacy is to make it standard of care that all people seeking psychotherapy can expect to see someone with expert training and supervision in individual, couple, sex and spiritual intimacy therapy.

Why Is Sexual Health Important To Our Partners?

Not all medical professionals take into account the sexual health of cancer & illness survivors. By and large, medical professionals do not regularly talk about sexual health and that leaves people with distressing problems, question, and no answers. This leaves them with the difficult task of finding tools and resources for sexual health and intimacy on their own.

People are seeking information through advocate agencies and, in many cases, still unable to receive this vital information. Unfortunately, organizations have been unwilling to include sexual dysfunction and wellness strategies because of cultural taboos. Normalizing these conversations, providing assistance and sexual therapeutic aids are proactive steps toward treating sexual health like any other aspect of survivorship care.

Where can someone seeking answers to their sexual dysfunction or intimacy questions if their main medical team does not have the information or cannot help? Many people give up, feeling a part of their life is simply forever gone. The take away- people are getting the message that their sexual health isn’t an important part of their quality of life.

Share Your Story Of Hope

We want to hear about how cancer & illness have effected life after the diagnosis. We also want to hear from caregivers, advocates,
family, & medical professionals lending love & support. By sharing your story, you’ll give encouragement and support
giving strength in numbers as we fight cancer & illness together. View the effects of cancer & illness from various vantage points …
