RECLAIMING LIFE: Men’s Cancer & Illness Focus

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Our Reclaiming Life: Men’s Cancer & Illness Focus course gives men going through any kind of cancer or illness a resource for factual, important information, meeting like-minded, like-diagnosed individuals, and educates on how to empower themselves to reclaim their wants, needs and desires from life, including all aspects of intimacy. Your patient’s caregivers and support systems can also benefit from this class by being educated about their cancer, and how to deal with the side effects from their treatments in a holistic, whole-body approach to healing. Men’s Cancer & Illness Focus gives advice and information on aspects of life after prostate, testicular, colorectal, urethral, bladder and other types of cancers and illnesses geared towards the male gender. Learning self-care can be a challenging process that takes time, effort, and patience within their lives. To reclaim their lives, their physical and mental being, as well as their intimacy needs is a much-needed journey for anyone facing down the likes of cancer.

COURSE OBJECTIVE

Reclaiming Life: Men’s Cancer & Illness Focus course is a vital support for those who are facing cancer and who are looking to reclaim their lives. Objectives of focus in this class include:

  • Communicating needs, wants, likes and dislikes clearly with their partner, caregivers and support team members
  • The importance of self-acceptance and how to work towards accepting their new ‘after-cancer-or-illness’ body
  • Learn about all of the paths to pleasure that the body offers, and put to rest those methods that are no longer achievable
  • An open discussion about sexual dysfunction: the many reasons why it can happen and how to work through each situation to find pleasure and resolve
  • An open discussion about erectile dysfunction, all of the side effects, and numerous non-medical methods and therapies to try
  • The importance of safe sex
  • Information and usage tips on therapeutic devices designed to help ease the sexual and intimate side effects caused by cancer treatment
  • How to deal with and manage certain side effects caused by their cancer treatments.

RECLAIMING INTIMACY’S RESOURCE LIBRARY

In addition to course materials, students have access to Reclaiming Intimacy’s Resource Library. This is a free resource designed help you find answers to your questions while providing tools to help better understand a cancer diagnosis.  Our goal is to help anyone touched by cancer with find critical information, become well-informed, and instill a sense of comfort & control through every phase of treatment. Cancer can be overwhelming so removing the “unknown” is important to mentally preparing for treatment.

By addressing cancer’s effect on the sexual self, we reframe the conversation to focus forward rather than comparing the past. By removing change as a negative, we remove the feelings of shame, isolation, and silent suffering. Reclaiming Intimacy Through Hope Resource Library is a place to learn, grow, gain empowerment by getting the facts. Know what to expect from your cancer & treatment plan so you can develop effective strategies with those accompanying you on the cancer journey.

THE CANCER CRUSADER NEWSLETTER

At the time of course enrollment, students will be automatically signed up to receive the Cancer Crusader Newsletter. COURSE REVIEW & FEEDBACK

At the conclusion of the course, there will be a short evaluation to gain input from every student. This feedback is essential for improving courses, teaching methods, and delivery of class materials.

TUITION AND FEES REFUND POLICY

Students are required to pay 100% of required fee at the time of enrollment. If a student cancels prior to the start of classes, 100% of tuition and fees will be refunded. Reclaiming Intimacy does not pro-rate fees or offer refunds for students withdrawing after the start of their classes. Payment plans or scholarships may be available to you. Reach out to our staff for more details.

After enrollment and payment is made, the course packet will be sent via USPS or be prepared and ready for pick-up at our offices, located at 6347 Constitution Drive, Fort Wayne, IN 46804. Please make sure you correctly selected the class learning method that best fits your learning style. And, finally, after enrollment, you will receive a call from your course instructor to discuss your individual learning objectives.
